In our reimagining of Snow White, rooted in the Grimm tale, we place the mirror at the center of the story. The narrative explores a haunting cycle of beauty, truth, and belonging: each begins as a deep longing for connection and recognition, but under the pressures of comparison and contempt, they twist into a hunger to dominate and destroy. Snow’s transformation into the Queen is not a sudden fall but the inevitable result of the Mirror’s relentless drive, its reflections slowly guiding and commanding her until she is fully shaped by the very force she once feared.
Snow’s early dances shine in bright contrast: lighthearted, joyful sequences of love and happiness with the prince and the miners offer moments of warmth, tenderness, and genuine connection that push back against the encroaching darkness.
This production is a meditation on how beauty and truth can be weaponized. It calls for radical compassion: to stop echoing the mirror, to name the voices that shape us, and to create spaces where reflection restores rather than ruins.
