The Crucible: Encore

Set in 1692 during the Salem Witch Trials, our interpretation of The Crucible by Arthur Miller examines the destructive power of fear, mass hysteria, and the consequences of false accusations. The hysteria begins when a group of young girls, led by Abigail Williams, are caught dancing in the woods with Tituba. To avoid punishment, they claim they were bewitched, setting off a frenzy of accusations - the small Puritan community of Salem is quickly torn apart. Central to the story is John Proctor, a farmer grappling with guilt over an affair with Abigail, who uses the trials to target his wife, Elizabeth. As the accusations escalate, innocent people are condemned. As the trials spiral out of control, The Crucible becomes a powerful exploration of truth, honor, and the dangers of mass paranoia. Inspired by McCarthy-era political persecution, Miller’s play remains a chilling and timeless reflection on justice and integrity under pressure.

We are ecstatic to be returning to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with this production. After a fantastic debut last year, we are thrilled to bring our interpretation of The Crucible back to the renowned festival.
